The challenges facing residents with Alzheimer’s and Dementia were taken in to consideration when designing our memory support unit at McGregor. The intimate atmosphere and home-like surroundings create a pleasant, calm and serene environment to minimize confusion. Calming music and horticultural therapy by trained professionals are part of the everyday activities. 

Staff receives ongoing training in the care of the dementia resident. Because each resident is an individual, care plans are customized to fit the whole person. 

Activities are structured throughout the day, and designed to capture the interest of residents and fulfill a purpose. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of these special residents while promoting their independence and individuality. When you visit our memory support unit you will find minimal distractions, reduced noise levels and a sense of community. A secured courtyard was designed for gardening and enjoying the outdoors. Residents are able to walk through the courtyard year round without actually going outside by way of the belvedere.
